Welcome to the Windows Mail newsgroup.

So why is it not called WindowsMail.vista? etc
-- Regards Steve. MS-MVP. OE. [DTS]

is it really necessary, I guess its just to emphasize the Windows branding through marketing, its not necessarily needed everywhere. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Windows Mail, but look at Windows XP Professional x64 - but the name of the group is microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general, its not microsoft.public.windowsxp.64bit.general -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Or maybe just for the sake of consistency...

Well, actually, it's listed as windows.vista.mail, which is in the format all the other Vista newsgroups are listed. -- Nancy Ward MVP MSN Messenger

While its okay to have an HTTP interface, users can also reach these newsgroups by going to Tools | Accounts | Add | News in OE and then add msnews.microsoft.com as the newsserver and then one can download the list of NGs.
For Vista, just go to the MS Help Groups (msnews is already loaded up) and specify your preferred name and then download the NGs that way.
No need to invoke a browser. <G>
Information pertaining to the new changes in Windows Mail can be found at Bryan Starbuck's blog at:
http://spaces.msn.com/bryanstarbuck/
The spam filters are great.
I also have a preliminary version of OETool (works in 5270 only at the moment), if anyone wants to play with it in conjunction with Windows Mail. You can download it at www.oehelp.com/OEToolv.zip Note that you have to enable the Views bar in OE prior to starting OEToolv. If you start it first and then enable the views bar, then you have to close the OETool and then start it again.
Most of the buttons work most of the time. <G>
